Language at Work helps individuals and their organizations become more effective, efficient, and successful by helping them improve the way they communicate.
Founded in 1985 in Washington, DC, Language at Work has over 25 years of experience providing training programs, individual coaching, and organizational consulting in all areas of communication. Our areas of expertise include: Writing, Interpersonal Skills, Presentation Skills and Briefings, Meeting Management, and English as a Second Language, as well as the organizational skills that often underlie successful communication, such as managing priorities and resources, working in teams, and the development of professional image and behavior.
We are known for providing training that responds to an organization’s particular challenges, and for creating programs that inspire, instruct, motivate, entertain, and deliver results. An organization can choose any of our Ready To Go Training Programs, or can work with us to create a custom-designed approach.

Judy Pollock
President and co-founder of Language at Work
Judy has more than 25 years of experience as an instructor, coach, public speaker, and actor. Judy’s vision for Language at Work is to help people interact effectively. She brings her experience and education from the classroom and the theatre to the development of training that helps participants combine listening and understanding with content and style to create, deliver, and monitor messages that leave no illusions.
Mary Scohera
Director of Operations
Mary brings to Language at Work her expertise at managing programs and projects, gained from 20 years of experience helping organizations and individuals determine and realize their goals. She is known for her ability to find solutions to a variety of situations, and for the collegiality and rapport she develops with clients. Mary’s creativity and enthusiasm ensure that programs are responsive, interesting, and memorable.
Instructors
Language at Work instructors combine expertise in instructional design with workplace knowledge and experience to deliver consistently high-quality programs. Our instructors are known for guiding participants to apply concepts of communication to the situations and concerns of their daily lives so that learning becomes transformational.
